Old? New? Different! – Alternative crops

With the project "Old? New? Different! – Alternative Crops" project, we will present various alternative crops for the first time this year at the DLG stand (VK51). These are crops that have been forgotten or come mainly from other European countries and are considered to be new discoveries. The following crops will be on display in demo plots on site as examples of alternative crops:

HempChickpeaLentil

Quinoa

Amaranth

BuckwheatGrain millet

Lupine

Daily consultation hour

„From the practitioner for the practitioner“
13:30 – 14:30 h

At DLG stand VK51

Due to climatic changes, location factors or legal changes, the topic of a multi-unit crop rotation is becoming increasingly relevant. Therefore, with this project we would like to create more transparency for alternative crops and give farmers an incentive to think about alternative crops. Alternative crops are diverse and offer an extension of the crop rotation or allow an advantage in cultivation on marginal sites.

As a highlight, experienced farmers will be available to answer your questions in a consultation hour during the lunch hours of the three exhibition days. The contacts also explain their decision in favour of an alternative crop and the opportunities that have arisen as a result; but they also report on the marketing opportunities that exist and where they see the future of the corresponding alternative crop. Bring your questions and experiences and participate directly in an informative exchange. All true to the motto "From practitioners for practitioners".

Stop by and be inspired by new alternatives. At our stand you will also find references to other alternative crops from other exhibitors.

If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Bruno Görlach, b.goerlach@dlg.org.
